Mining trade group spent $1.05M on 1Q lobbying

WASHINGTON (AP) ?€" The National Mining Association spent $1.05 million in the first quarter to lobby the government on issues ranging from mine safety to natural resources, according to a disclosure

report.

The expenditure compared with $596,291 that the trade group spent on lobbying in the year-ago quarter and $689,357 it spent in the fourth quarter.

From January through March, the association lobbied on funding proposals, mine safety and worker protections and energy-related taxes, among other topics.

The group also lobbied on proposals related to natural resources such as designation of national monuments and wildlands provisions.

The association lobbied the House of Representatives, the Senate and a number of agencies, including the departments of Interior, Labor and Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers, according to the April 20 report filed with the House clerk's office.
